Calculators are busy in almost all Ghanaian homes especially those who have some deep level of Love for sports and the National Male Senior team, Black Stars.

The Black Stars left Ghanaians disappointed with a 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in a match that everyone was expecting a win to put their qualification on the right track.

With Ghana already sharing the points with Ethiopia, All eyes were on South Africa simply because Ghana’s hope of making it to the next stage of the qualifying campaign depends on the goal margin from their game.

South Africa managed to get over Zimbabwe but will also be disappointed they could only win by a lone goal to set a football war with Ghana on Sunday.

The Bafana Bafana boys remain top of the table having accumulated 13 points and 5 goal difference, 3 better than Ghana’s 10 and 3 goals difference but that is not enough to secure them the next stage and dump Ghana.

How can Ghana Black Stars qualify to the next stage ahead of South Africa?

NB. Tie Breakers in CAF Competitions.

  1. Superior goal difference

2. Number of Goals Scored

3. Head To Head

Coming Sunday is scheduled for the final round of matches and that will be a mouthwatering clash between Ghana and South Africa with both teams still having a chance to qualify.

All Ghana has to do is to beat South Africa, in CAF competitions, goal difference is the first tie breaker and Should Ghana beat South Africa, they will be leveled on point. 13 each.

Now South Africa has 5 goals and should Ghana Score at least 1 against them, that goal will be a deduction for South Africa’s accumulated 5 goals and that also brings the superior goal difference on level, 4 each.

In this case the next tie breaker becomes Number of goals Scored. Currently both teams scored 6 goals each and that is a sure sign that goals scored between the two giants will definitely not be the same on that day except the game ended in a draw.

Therefore if Ghana is able to beat South Africa with even a single goal margin, they will get the nod ahead of their South African counterparts.
