The Gentle giant, the Humble one, the father of all, and the nickname goes on and on but he was born John Agyekum Kuffour.

It just surprising to see how the years have gone by so quick with Kuffour approaching his 90’s and looking quite feeble. 20 years ago when he looked strong, gallant and active, Ghanaians bestowed the nations hope on him to carrying on from where the late Jerry John Rawlings left and he did a decent job for the country.

For many Ghanaians, John Agyekum Kuffour has done more than enough to ensure his place in the pantheon of greats for eternity. Today I want to share with you a throwback picture of Kuffour with his siblings, a picture which looks incredibly old and was taken back in the late 40’s where he was a young child. Sitting next to him was his brother, Dr. Kwame Addo Kuffour but the next to Addo Kuffour is yet to be identified since he had many siblings. Catch a glimpes of the picture.

A very cool photo indeed. Kuffour had a quite seamless education route right from his childhood days to his adult stage, graduating from some noble institutions like the London’s Inn and Oxford University all in London.

His solid educational background rendered him cut out for several reputable positions including working in the Ghana commercial bank in London as a manager, working as a Town clerk of the Kumasi City Council and once a Club chairman of popular Ghanaian club, Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Along the line he branched into politics were he served as a Deputy Minister of foreign affairs under, Abrefa Busia’s government for sometime and held other governmental positions until 1996.

In 1996, he was selected by delegates of the New Patriotic Party to lead the party and contest in the December 1996 General elections. He lost the election but contested again 2000 where he won and the rest they say, is history.
