“No Ghana Card No Payment” – Controller and Accountant General’s department warns Government workers

The Controller And Accountant General’s department has issued a warning to all Workers on Government payroll to register with NIA for payment.

Government has intended to make traceability more easier by linking every data through the National Identification Authority.

This will only be possible if all registrations are dome with the recently registered card popularly known as Ghana Card.

Arrangements are already in place and Linking of all Sim Cards to the Ghana Card are ongoing and the latest one that is about to join the long queue is coming from the Office of the Controller and Accountants General.

In a Communique released hours ago, Every worker on government payroll who couldn’t register with the National Identification Authority will not be paid effective 1st December 2021.

“As part of Ghana’s efforts to deliver speedily, secured and verified payroll service to government employees and pensionaries while reducing the risk of undeserving payments of claims, the Controller and Accountants General Department is collaborating with the National Identification Authority to have harmonized database to facilitate biometric and unique identification of all workers on the government payroll.”

“By this Notice, all existing and prospective Government workers are to ensure they are registered with the NIA and have obtained their identity numbers. Please note that effective December 1,2021, workers on the Government of Ghaba Payroll who have not registered with the NIA will not be paid.” A statement reads
