Tyler beats Davido, Asake and others to win first Grammy Award

South African singer, Tyla has won her first ever Grammy award after emerging victorious at the just ended Grammy Awards event that took place on February 4, 2024.

She took home the “Best African Music Performance” Award for her song “Water” which has been a worldwide banger from the very day it was released.

The young singer was in competition with some big names in the African music scene, dominated by Nigerian heavyweights but managed to emerge victorious.

Her co nominees were, ASAKE, who has been on top of his game with many hit songs to his name since he broke into the music scene.

Others she beat to the award were Olamide, whose song, Amapiano was nominated, Burna Boy, who also grabbed a nomination with his song City Boys, Davido Featuring Musa Keys – UNAVAILABLE as well as Ayra Starr, Rush.

With these big names and songs that all made waves on the music scene, there is no doubt it was a tight competition.
