AFCON in jeopardy as European Club association writes to CAF refusing to release players for the tournament

The African Cup of Nation is in serious doubt after the European Club Association filed an official letter to management of the Confederation of African Football CAF concerning the release of players for the tournament.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in Cameroon next month and preparations are ongoing to make it a success.

Most African heavyweights play their club football in Europe and with the season getting so interesting at the moment, they will have to release all this players that will be needed by their national teams for the tournament.

However, the European Club Association, highlight key factors including the high spread of the deadly Covid-19 as one of the reasons they will be reluctant to release players for the tournament.
